A while back I mentioned I was on what I refer to as my Hero’s Journey.
There are several parts to the journey, as well as people involved. These people are mentors and helpers (see my first post for more details on that).
It is hard to keep it all straight. I gain so many bits of knowledge and insight from my helpers and mentors, that I decided to start an old fashioned ledger to keep track.
Even if you are not on your own personal inner Hero’s Journey, this would be a good way to track those tid-bits we all come across, quotes, words that resonate with us, things people say to us etc. You can make an index (like I share below) and easily refer back to your collection.
Here is what I did with mine:
I cut a hole in the cover to make it a bit more fun to look at when closed. The inside cover I added some photos, of me when I started the journey and me now, and room for future photos.
For the index I broke it down into sections and noted what page that section started on. My sections are as follows:
- Personal Crest / Symbols
- Helpers / Wise Counsel
- My Therapist
- My Life Coach
I have found this method to work wonderfully well, and it reminds me of the old 1800’s and early 1900’s ledgers where farmers listed their stock, sales and prices.
All the information and words that inspire me, keep me going, etc are all in one journal that I can easily refer to. I highly suggest this to all fellow journalers, to keep a journal of the things that you need to remind yourself of daily and refer to often.
